Ex-Police Constable George Voisey Barred After Indecent Images Of Children Conviction

Former Sussex Police officer George Voisey barred following guilty plea to making and distributing indecent images of children.

On 21 August 2025, an accelerated misconduct hearing was held at Sussex Police Headquarters concerning former Police Constable George Voisey. The hearing addressed serious allegations involving the distribution and making of indecent images of children. Voisey was accused of distributing a Category A indecent video of a child via Snapchat on 22 June 2024, and making multiple Category B and C indecent images on or before 24 October 2024.

Voisey pleaded guilty to all offences at Brighton and Hove Crown Court on 14 May 2025, following an earlier Magistrates Court appearance. Prior to charges, he resigned from Sussex Police effective 1 March 2023.

The Assistant Chief Constable found the facts undisputed and assessed the conduct as gross misconduct due to the deliberate and sustained nature of the offences. The behaviour was deemed to have a profoundly negative impact on public confidence in policing, especially given the officer’s role and the premeditated nature of the offences for sexual gratification.

No mitigating factors or positive contributions were presented during the hearing. The misconduct breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour, specifically discreditable conduct, and was fundamentally incompatible with continued service.

The sanction imposed was dismissal without notice, had Voisey remained in service, and his name was ordered to be added to the College of Policing’s barred list to prevent any return to policing. The decision prioritises maintaining public confidence, upholding policing standards, and protecting the public from harm.
