A former high ranking police officer is to appeal to a police appeals tribunal to try and win his job back after being sacked by the force for gross misconduct.
Former Chief Special Officer Tom Haye was dismissed from Hampshire Constabulary after he used the term “pikey” in a Whatsapp message which is widely regarded by the Romany Gypsy community as a derogatory term.
The cop has over 25 years of service with the force.
The appeal will be heard on Friday 21st January.
