Summary

A four-day Gross Misconduct Hearing was held at Merseyside Police HQ, commencing
Monday 14th March 2022.
Former Constable 3225 Smith appeared before the Hearing for breaching the Standards of
Professional Behaviour, namely, Honesty & Integrity, Discreditable Conduct and Authority,
Respect & Courtesy.
The former officer faced allegations that on 22nd December 2020, whilst she was off duty,
she had entered Tesco stores, Heswall, dressed in part uniform with the intention to steal
shopping with a retail value of £238.72.
At the conclusion of the Hearing former Constable Smith was found to have breached the
Standards of Professional Behaviour, at the level of Gross Misconduct. Having resigned
whilst under investigation, the finding of the panel was that, had the officer remained serving
she would have been dismissed without notice.
The officer will now be placed on to the College of Policing Barred List.
