Former Humberside PCSO charged with misconduct in public office
A former PCSO is due to appear in court charged with misconduct in public office and attempting to pervert the course of justice following an investigation carried out by Humberside Police and managed by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Allegations Simon Smith, 48, was abusing his position for a sexual purpose were referred to us by the force and the resulting investigation looked at his contact with members of the public while working for Humberside Police.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, we directed the force to refer the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised three charges of misconduct in public office and one of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Smith, who was based in Goole, is due to appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court on 24 February.
