An officer is to appear before a gross misconduct hearing in June this year.

It is alleged that on 6 June 2021, PC Toby Beasley, breached the standards of professional behaviour, namely use of force; duties and responsibilities; and discreditable conduct, in his conduct when detaining a man in the course of his duty.

The particulars are that the use of the baton strikes was unwarranted and/or disproportionate to the threat posed, that the number and/or force of the baton strikes was excessive and the way in which the baton strikes were delivered was not measured, controlled or targeted, either adequately and/or at all.
