Circumstances of Alleged Breaches

On Thursday 25 February, PC Niven was off duty and driving a private vehicle when he collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The pedestrian suffered several injuries, including fractures to his eye socket, nose, knee and ribs.

PC Niven resigned from the Met and his last date of service was 4 April 2021.

On 21 October 2021 at Willesden Magistrates’ Court, former PC Niven was convicted (on his guilty pleas) of two offences:

1. Driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or in a public place without reasonable consideration to other users.
2. Being the driver of a vehicle failing to stop after a road accident.
