Standards of professional behavior that have allegedly been breached
- Honesty and integrity
Circumstances of Alleged Breaches
Between November 2019 and June 2020 the former officer’s conduct breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of his responses to questions on his vetting application to join Northamptonshire Police.
He was previously employed in a role until January 30, 2017 when he was dismissed for gross misconduct.
The former officer subsequently joined Northamptonshire Police in March 2020 through an application process. In the course of the application process he completed vetting forms, the accurate completion of which was a condition precedent of him being confirmed in post as a serving police officer. He was asked specifically whether he had previous involvement in disciplinary proceedings and he confirmed ‘no.
The particulars of misconduct are that the former officer provided information that he knew to be false in the course of his vetting application and/or to a Vetting officer, and in an ethical interview on June 5, 2020.
The reason the conduct amounts to gross misconduct is that it was fundamentally dishonest. If accurate information had been provided it was likely to have an adverse effect on his vetting application. He then maintained a dishonest response when questioned about his answers in an interview.
