Circumstances of Alleged Breaches
A Leicestershire Police detective constable will face a gross misconduct hearing next week (19 to 21 January).
It is alleged that in February 2021, the conduct of the officer breached the standards of professional behaviour namely discreditable conduct, duties and responsibilities and failing to challenge/report in respect of his dealings with a female colleague.
It is alleged that the officer had intimate and/or sexual relations with the colleague while on work premises and that he inappropriately engaged in sexual text conversation with her while on duty.
It is also alleged that on other occasions, while not on work premises, the officer was aware that his colleague was on duty when they had intimate and/or sexual relations and that the he failed to challenge and/or report his colleague’s on duty conduct.
It has been determined by the Chair of the hearing that it should be heard in private under regulation 39 of the Police Conduct Regulations 2020. Representations can be made from the public and the press as to why this hearing, or part of this hearing, should be held in public.
