Inspector Who Held Gun To Head Of Work Colleague Would Have Been Sacked Had He Not Retired

Former Acting Inspector Michael Zdan has been found for Gross Misconduct at a Misconduct Panel on Tuesday 8 December.  Zdan has retired from the police but the Panel deemed that dismissal would have been justified if he had still been with the force.

The details of the case were that the standards of professional behaviour breached were equality and diversity, duties and responsibilities and discreditable conduct.

It was alleged that the officer between September 2019 and the end of November 2019 subjected a colleague to inappropriate conduct (not sexual) where he undermined her, referred to her as ferret, kicked her in the rear of her legs, pushed cake into her face and did not deal with a firearm correctly, holding it to her head once they had left an incident.

Zdan retired from Hertfordshire in August 2020 and has not engaged with this process.  Federation and legal representatives attended the hearing.
